Owen's Bio

He was born and raised in the South Wales Valleys (UK), with its beautiful forests, mountains, and lakes becoming his own photographic backyard, and yet so very much more to investigate in his home country.

Aviation Relationship

His deep passion for all things aviation was seeded on a family holiday, attending the Weston Air Festival in 2015 aged 6 and being in awe of the AVRO Vulcan, sadly it's last year of airborne mobility. Aged 12, he joined a local RAF Air Cadet Squadron, where he is still progressing well and learning so much about himself but more importantly, the same year he got his first camera and has never looked back. Owen has become his squadron's Official Photographer in recent times, a valued Media Cadet Member of his Air Cadet Wing (No1. Welsh Wing), and is also ending his first year of studying GCSE Photography.

The Military form of Aviation Photography has captivated him, in every sense of the word, where his teen years to date have been spent hiking, camping/carvanning, attending airshows and going on road trips to capture many an aircraft here in the UK.

Photography

If aviation is Owen's first true love, photography became his second one quickly after, now combining the two in perfect harmony. It has to be said that he started with just wanting to take pictures of them, but became instantly drawn to the art of merging the two and wished to delve deeper.

Beginning his journey with a Panasonic FZ1000 Bridge Camera, where a year later led to him upgrading to his first DSLR which was a Nikon D7500 with an AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Lens and a Tamron 100-400mm f/4.5-6.3 Di VC USD, where the latter was changed to a Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2. Two years later, and as of July 2025, he has now upgraded from these to a Nikon Z6iii Mirrorless paired with a Nikon NIKKOR 24-120mm F/4 S Lens and Nikon NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR Lens - all native Z pieces of equipment.

Of course, he still has much more to learn at 16 years old, whilst being totally at ease and happy to keep learning in all manner of ways, Owen is incredibly aware of most photographers at any level will attest to;

"you are always learning, no matter how long you have been a photographer"

Interesting Fact

Not only is Owen a photographer, he is also a grassroots footballer, playing in the position of Goalkeeper, since aged 8! Oh, and he supports Sheffield Wednesday which he will no doubt blame his Dad for.

"A photograph is a collision between a person with a camera and reality. The photograph is typically as interesting as the collision is."
